Yoga
yoga starts from discipleship. The moment we desire strongly to follow the path of yoga we must accept that we are going to become a disciple. The path of yoga leads us to progress in the aspects of physical and mental health besides spiritual awakening. On this path we have to be alert every moment of our life in cleaning the body, mind, thoughts and deeds. For this we have to dispel our ego, the ignorance and dross in our mind.
There are two types of disciples one a monk or synnyasin and other a householder. For a monk total surrender and dedication to the service of guru is the only way to become a disciple. In case of householder the purpose of the life which has been obtained along with family, duties, environment etc. are stepping stones to discipleship. whatever is happening every moment in our life a disciple should try discipline and adjust himself. Guru means light, illumination. Therefore when we become disciple Guru is already within us but we can`t see it, so we project the Guru onto somebody who becomes our external Guru.
our consciousness at present is in total darkness. This consciousness is the deepest part of our spiritual personality. the guru awakens this consciousness by the help of a Mantra. The mind can illuminate all that is in the material world but we can not see our subtler plane of existence because That is enveloped by darkness known as ignorance or Maya. The deeper plane can be illuminated by Guru Mantra. Guru gives you a special Mantra that can transform the consciousness.
